map no. 2
Somewhere in your line, there is one who has been weaving all along, taking what life handed her, what was passed down to her, what her own soul kept, and working it into something whole. You may not know her name. You may not have known she was there at all.
This map is where you meet her. Through a guided meditation and a mixed-media spread in your Book of Wisdom, you’ll give her form, and receive the message she has been carrying, waiting for you to be ready.

map no. 1
Half of what you call your personality was handed to you. You have been running on instructions you never read.
You are not at the beginning of this line, and you are not at the end of it. What you carry has been passing hand to hand for longer than anyone remembers, and most of it arrived without a word: in the way you fold a towel, salt the soup, steady a frightened child, hold your tongue.
In what your hands know without your ever deciding to learn it.
All of it is real. All of it is yours. Different hands gave you different pieces of this: a mother’s phrase, a grandmother’s instinct, habits with no name attached at all. And somewhere within that tangle, there is one who has been gathering these many hands together, weaving them into a single shape long before you arrived. That is the wool, already gathered from many hands, waiting for you to meet the one who gathered it.
This map is where you meet your Grandmother Weaver. No one else can meet her in your place. She has been waiting for your hands to find hers.
This did not begin with you.
It was passed into your hands.
This is the thread.
Wisdom is woven from three threads, and most of us hold all three without realizing it.
In this Wisdom Map, the threads lead you to her. Through a guided meditation, you meet the Grandmother Weaver you carry: a woman from your lineage, or a wise woman who has shaped your life, who has been gathering these threads long before you knew they were there. You let her take form, you receive the message she has been holding for you, and you give her shape in a mixed-media spread in your Book of Wisdom.
Wisdom is woven from three threads, and most of us hold all three without realizing it.
In this map, you follow the threads through one woman in your lineage. You choose a woman from your line who now stands on the other side of the veil, and you come to know her. You may know more about her than you realize. Through her life and her times, you begin to see what was handed to you: what you are keeping, and what you will weave new.
What you carry gets handed on whether or not you ever look at it. That is the honest urgency of this map, and it is the weaving’s own. Unexamined, what you carry passes exactly as it arrived, the way it was passed to you. Made visible and worked with your own hands, it passes on changed: chosen, shaped, yours.
In this Wisdom Map, you will meet the one who has been weaving before you, receiving what she has been waiting to give you, and layer by layer, giving her form on the page, until you can step back and recognize what has been with you all along.
This is not an art class. It is not a journaling practice. It is Visual Wisdom Keeping, worked through your hands: image where thinking stops, symbol where words have not yet arrived, layer by layer, until what you have lived becomes something you can see.
Every Wisdom Map brings a figure from the old stories, because when your own story is hard to reach, the old stories know the way in. This map’s keeper is Spider Woman, the grandmother weaver the old stories say taught the first weavers: the one who holds the strands, who knows a web is built one anchored thread at a time.
You may find her story is also yours.

That is the work.

I am a Mixed Media Depth Coach, guiding women in the second half of life to go deeper than words, excavating what they’ve lived into a living document of their becoming.
For over a decade, first as a coach and then through this practice, I’ve been guiding women through what happens when they stop trying to think their way through a threshold and start making it visible instead. Through layered mixed media. Through color and image and symbol. Through the kind of depth work that works the way the psyche actually works: not through analysis, but through the hands.
This work changed my life first. It gave me a way to move through what words alone couldn’t hold. Finding my own silver thread became a way to pace myself through the in-between, trusting that the process was going somewhere important. It was.
I created The Grandmother Weaver while I was working in my art room and began to explore the women who came before me. I realized I could get to know them, even the ones I never met, by exploring the patterns I’d inherited and appreciating the context of the times they lived in. I realized that every woman has old stories that shaped them they may not have yet explored.
No artistic skill required. Just curiosity, and a willingness to experiment with what your hands might know.

Not at all. Wisdom Maps are a mixed-media art practice, not an art class. The Visual Prompt Cards and progression guidance give your hands what they need. What matters is a willingness to experiment: to put something on the page before you know what it means. That is the practice.
Your spread will be entirely your own. The audio guidance and progression support are designed to draw out what's arising in you, not to lead you toward Terri's spread. You'll see Terri's process as a model for how to move, not what to make. What lands on your page will come from your own inner landscape. No two spreads from this map have ever looked the same.
You may know more than you realize, and none of it requires names, dates, or photographs. The meditation in this map works with the felt sense of what you carry, not the family record. Your Grandmother Weaver may come from your lineage, or she may be a wise woman who has shaped your life. Women with full family trees and women with almost none make equally true spreads here.
A mixed-media journal or book with paper made to hold acrylics, mediums, collage, and mark-making. Basic supplies: acrylic paint, gesso, matte medium, a sponge brush, an old credit card for scraping, collage materials (paper, images, found objects), and a mark-making tool. A comprehensive supply list is inside the Map. You do not need everything before you begin. Start with what you have.
This is yours to move through at your own pace. Some women complete their spread in a single afternoon. Others return to it across several sessions. There is no timeline. The practice meets you where you are.
No, and by design. Wisdom Maps are self-paced. You access it on your own time, return whenever you're ready, and move at the pace your practice calls for. The map waits for you.
Yes, and you're encouraged to. A Wisdom Map is not a one-time experience. Each time you return, the map will meet you differently. Return in a different season, and it will give you something entirely new. Your purchase is permanent.
Wisdom Maps are a digital practice with immediate, lifetime access. Because everything is delivered the moment you complete your purchase and remains yours thereafter, this purchase is final. No refunds. Please take your time on this page before you decide, and if you have questions before purchasing, reach out to Terri at terri@thevisualjournaler.com.
Wisdom Maps are designed to be self-guiding. The Visual Prompt Cards, Terri's spread-in-progress photography, and the Living the Questions pauses are built to support you through every layer of the practice.
If you get stuck or have a question, you can reach Terri directly at terri@thevisualjournaler.com. She reads every message.
The threads were passed into your hands by hands you never knew. Open your book, gather your trove, and meet the one who has been holding them, until she takes a form you can see.
The line never once stopped moving. This is where it reaches you.
